    What a fine looking rifle the HW95 is. Decades after owning my last air rifle (Webley tracker in the mid ‘80s) I’ve decided I’d like another, and it’s come down to a HW95 or used TX200. Still can’t make up my mind. Great video, thanks.

    • @JJ_OUTDOORS
      @JJ_OUTDOORS 8 дней назад

      @numberstation I always knew one day I'd get myself an air rifle again..it would have been far to easy to get a pcp and plink away without ever moving ..but the real skill to be learnt is to go back right to the basics and start again with a springer

    • @numberstation
      @numberstation 8 дней назад

      @@JJ_OUTDOORS Thanks for the reply. I’m getting on and need an interest, I lived in the gym for decades but arthritis is eating away at my joints now so I cast my mind back to my youth. I’ve no interest at all in a pcp, I know they’re terrifically accurate but to my eyes they’re pretty soulless things and the elegant simplicity of a springer is what an air rifle “should” be as far as I’m concerned. I looked at both the 95 and the TX200, I was amazed at how nimble the 95 was, the TX200 felt a bit of a cannon by comparison. My only concern is perhaps the 95 is a TOO light regarding recoil? Then again I’d get it tuned so that probably wouldn’t be a concern. Anyway, enjoy your shooting mate.

    👍👍👍 I agree with you .. a great bit of kit. I have mine since the mid-70's and still use it regularly. It is the original 'wire clips and canister screw-on' model. It has a built-in wind shield and the pot supports are adjustable (and removable) to cater for small diameter pots and storage. The Burner Head and Pot Supports are removable for easier storage. I store and transport mine in a rectangular Toiletry Bag which if need be, can be hung on the outside of my pack. In the Bag .. Gas Camister (installed), Burner Head, Pot Supports, Folding Base Stand, Pot Holder, Cloth and Butane Lighter. Here in Switzerland, I can get replacement Gas Cartridges at Decathlon, my local Migros Supermarket just down the road and a host of other places. Cost. Price per gram of Gas is less than other Gas Burner Systems and the Burner is pretty economical. Caveat .. I have never had the need to run my Unit on full power (which wastes an inordinate amount of gas .. heat running away and up the sides of the pot). A lower setting still boils water in not that much longer while using far less gas to do so. I still see no need to get myself one of the more modern, compact (and expensive) Gas Cookers. My Camping Gaz Bluet 206 still does the job and I, as a 'Boomer' (YOB 1950), was raised as not to allow it's perceived idiosyncracies to get in the way 😏.

    This is one of the very best 'wild camping' videos I've seen from anyone. There was such an intensity of feeling to it. You made me realise just how much this woodland and the surrounding landscape matters to you. How it connects to your childhood with all its attendant memories and, no doubt, mixed emotions. Also, the way the video was presented, it was as if we were on this journey of discovery alongside you in 'real time' - an adventure story in which we were taking part. This really matters to you and, because of that, it means something to the rest of us too.

    I know exactly how you’re feeling mate. I watched when you found your camp. Some utter shits around. I’ve not been to my camp since I tidied the remains of what was left. That was in February. I can’t go just yet. I’ve likened it breaking up a girl, you don’t want see her because it’ll hurt haha Great video mate. All the best

    It’s heart breaking when you work so hard on finding and setting up a great camp just for someone to come along and ruin it, I know how you feel, I have unfortunately gone through it several times myself. It’s good that you are going back though JJ, giving it another go is always a positive step. Atb, Brian.

    Such a shame glad you went back JJ, my childhood woods were bulldozed where my Grandad took me fishing and I got it on video on my channel, its weird that you can have a connection to some woodland until someone destroys it... Good luck
